Looking straight ahead, you see Southport’s Old Post Road as it runs underneath the overpass of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad line, now Metro North, opened in 1848.  Just before the tracks, you can see in the distance the recently restored railroad freight station built in 1871.
