The house at 683 Pequot Avenue still retains its original unpainted shingles.

With its wide spreading roof, Palladian window, rustic stone foundation and prominent chimney, it is a textbook example of the early Colonial Revival-style.  Architect William W. Kent built the house in 1892 for Oliver Sherwood.
