Southport Academy

95 Main Street

Across Main Street, the small house with the blue shutters at number 95, began life in 1828 as the Southport Academy.  It accommodated the school children of the town, lower grades on the first floor, upper grades on the second level.  The cross street, Church Street, led to the Episcopal and Methodist Churches, which graced the side of the hill, their spires once visible from miles at sea.
