Simon Couch Sherwood House

67 Westway Road

Continue walking down Westway Road to 67 Westway, built in the Queen Anne-style by Captain Sherwood’s son, Simon Couch Sherwood, in 1884.   Its decorative half-timbered turret, crockets and gables were supposed to evoke a romantic castle in far off England, definitely not the kind of architecture that would have appealed to Sherwood’s practical sea captain father.
